I'm mom to two tiny humans. They ensure that I never have it all together...not even a little bit, most of the time. But they're beautiful and bright and inspiring, and I work really hard to teach them what they need to know (things like--sneeze into your arm, not your hand, buy art that you love, make good food and good friends, be kind, work hard, write letters).
I also work really hard to create things I'd like to see in the world. My shop is a necessary stress in my life. It makes things harder and more complicated, but not having it to work on and nurture would make things darker and less happy. Sending something I've made to someone who likes it enough to pay money for it is my favorite thing. It helps me feel connected to humanity even when I spend my days changing diapers and picking up toys.
To take care of my need for real life interaction and my belief that children can make really amazing pieces of art, I teach art classes at Bear Cave Studios. We make a big mess, and you'll never here me tell a kid they've used enough glue.
As far as this blog goes, I'm glad you're here. Making my environment beautiful is really important to me, so this is where I explore my definitions of beauty and good design through my own projects, the work of others I admire, and maybe some writing (but not about pigs).
